Our People

The Envirofit team has successfully taken the retrofit technology to market, building alliances with a broad range of stakeholders and partners eager to work with Envirofit to co-create value for the customer.

TEAM

We are a team of engineers and entrepreneurs commercializing technologies that reduce pollution and promote energy efficiency at the base of the world's economic pyramid. Envirofit's work is guided by a Board of Directors (BoD) and implemented by staff both in the US and in the Philippines. We have 11 full-time employees (7 project team leaders in the United States, 4 full-time mechanics in the Philippines) and are currently expanding. We also host a steady stream of volunteers and interns given our close relationship with the university. This team has proven that it can build capacity at the local level to establish a self-financing social venture.

  • Roles/Responsibilities
  • Ron's primary responsibility for the retrofit project will be to provide executive guidance, drawing from his extensive product development / commercial experience as needed to ensure the team and project are successful.
  • Mr. Bills has spent the last 13 years as an executive in the consumer durables industry where he led major business units for Bombardier, Yamaha, Polaris Industries and is the past CEO for Segway. Mr. Bills has a proven track record with extensive business and P&L leadership expertise in private, public, and start-up business environments. He has a demonstrated business leadership ability with a successful record of product, brand and market development with improved business performance that provides for increased value to shareholders and investors. His business expertise and experience spans both domestic and internationally in market analysis, marketing and PR, government relations, product development, distribution channel development, customer service, intellectual property, engineering, global supply chain management, manufacturing and finance. He began his career as an Engineer in the Aerospace industry with Martin Marietta Aerospace and has degrees in Engineering and Business.

  • Roles/Responsibilities
  • Tim is responsible for overall day-to-day leadership of the project. In managing the project, he will report directly to the CEO and Board of Directors of Envirofit International and Envirofit Philippines Foundation. All project activities will be reported / directed through Tim.
  • Mr. Bauer completed both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering at Colorado State University. He spent over 6 years working for the EECL focused on the development and validation of clean engine and alternative fuel technologies and as a technical project supervisor. His work with gasoline direct injection began in 2000, and in 2002 he led his team to develop and implement an award-winning product, resulting in an emissions event victory at the Clean Snowmobile Challenge. Mr. Bauer is responsible for all project management and operations activities, both domestically and abroad. He has played critical roles in working with the local and city government officials to ensure project success. Through the development and commercial roll-out of the Envirofit retrofit kit, Mr. Bauer has gained experience in fundraising, international sourcing, retrofit cost analysis, supplier management, in-country operations development and staff management, as well as marketing/public relations.

  • Nathan will ensure that both the product performance and quality assurance metrics are met in all facets of the project, and that all technical data recorded during the project is accurate.
  • Mr. Lorenz received his B.S. and his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University. He has worked extensively in the area of clean engine technology; working on and overseeing all facets of engine development from design and testing to project management. This work has spanned engines ranging from 25cc to some of the largest natural gas compressor engines in the world. Mr. Lorenz is responsible for component engineering, performance, and overseeing technical activities at Envirofit. As such, Mr. Lorenz has extensive experience in field test studies, field-site calibration, data logging, performance evaluation, and emissions testing.

  • Roles/Responsibilities
  • Alan manages and controls the global and local supply chains for all product life cycle phases. He is responsible for the planning, procurement, and logistics functions. His responsibilities also include strategic sourcing, cost management, supplier and product quality, and assurance of supply.
  • Mr. Campbell's professional experience includes more than 15 years managing supply chains in the high-tech electronics and biopharmaceutical industries. He has developed and led high performing teams to design and manage complex supply chains successfully, optimizing assets and costs while significantly reducing risk. He is professionally certified by the Association for Operations Management (CPIM and CSCP), Institute for Supply Management (C.P.M.), and International Supply Chain Education Alliance (CSCM). . Mr. Campbell is an officer and director of APICS Northern Colorado, and serves as an instructor to help supply chain professionals develop their skills. He earned an MBA from Arizona State University with a concentration in supply chain management.

  • Jaime ensures that all project goals and objectives are met according to timetables. She brings marketing, design, database management, and evaluation experience to the Envirofit team.
  • Ms. Whitlock received her B.S. in Geological Sciences from Rutgers University, her M.S. in Geological Sciences from Pennsylvania State University, and is close to finishing a second M.S. in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources from Colorado State University. She has worked in international science education, sustainable natural resource management, project management, professional design and marketing. Her role at Envirofit is coordination of the project team around the successful development and deployment of the Envirofit pilot projects.

  • Roles/Responsibilities
  • Harish's primary responsibilities are the in-country promotion and sales of Envirofit products. He heads Envirofit India Pvt. Ltd. providing executive presence, strategic guidance and organizational leadership. He is building a sales and marketing staff and developing a diverse distribution channel to implement and assure product sales.
  • Mr. Anchan is an incisive professional with nearly 19 years of experience in the business operations of selling products in rural India. He is an out-of-the-box thinker with a proven track record of increasing revenues, establishing networks, streamlining workflow and creating an enviroment of teamwork to innovatively enhance productivity. A planner and implementer with expertise in managing entire operations, with key focus on top line and bottom line profitability by ensuring optimal utilization of resources. Possess knowledge of designing the products to manufacturing to selling to servicing the customer to collecting payment from the customers.

  • Marte is responsible for ensuring installations are occurring according to the project schedule, and managing our local relations. He will be conducting the training / educational seminars hosted by Envirofit.
  • Mr. Lapasaran received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at University of San Agustin, Iloilo City, Philippines. He spent 9 years working for Nissan Diesel as a technical service engineer, specializing in after sales support. He continued his work in the diesel transport sector as a project manager for a Clean Bus Program in Manila. Work on this program was largely focused on proper vehicle maintenance and training for technicians and drivers. He began working on Envirofit two-stroke direct injection retrofit projects in 2003, and has been formally employed by Envirofit since early 2006.

  • Roshan is the most recent addition to the Envirofit team in Fort Collins, Colorado, starting work in Fall 2007. His role at Envirofit focuses on the design and development of new products marketed toward the developing world. This work includes concept development analysis and prototyping, detailed design activities (solid modeling, detail drawing, finite element analysis), assistance with the validation and identification of global supply chain components, coordination of product testing programs and management of graduate and undergraduate students helping with Envirofit projects.

  • Paul Hudnut is Founder of the Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise Program (GSSE) at Colorado State University and teaches entrepreneurship classes at the College of Business. He is also Co-Director of CSU's Global Innovation Center for Energy, Health & Environment (GIC). Paul is a visiting instructor in entrepreneurship at the Bordeaux Business School and Bainbridge Graduate Institute. His background and interest is in building companies, technology transfer, and intellectual property in the bioscience, energy and information services industries. He is particularly interested in business models which emphasize an entrepreneurial approach to global issues of environment and health. Mr. Hudnut is a co-founder and director of Envirofit International. He also serves as a board member of New Belgium Brewing Co., Inviragen, CaringFamily and Opportunities Without Borders.  Prior to joining CSU, Mr. Hudnut was an executive at Heska Corporation, U.S. WEST Marketing Resources and PR Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Hudnut earned his BA from Colorado College, his law degree from University of Virginia, and completed the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School in 1991.

  • Morgan DeFoort is the Associate Director of the Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory at Colorado State University. He received his B.A in Physics from Hastings College and is expecting to receive his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University this year. Morgan has worked in varied energy applications including exhaust after-treatment for natural gas pipeline engines, advanced ignition systems for distributed energy resource applications, bio-fuels and bio-energy research, and energy for sustainable development. He serves on the Technical Advisory Board for Envirofit International and Integrid Test and Development Laboratory (a lab co-founded by CSU and Spirae Inc. - a Colorado based company specializing in infrastructure for distributed and renewable energy). He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association.

  • Mr. McGoldrick is Program Manager for the Engines & Energy Conversion Laboratory at Colorado State University and for the Global Innovation Center for Energy, Environment & Health. In addition, he is an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Philosophy at CSU, where he teaches courses on Asian religions and culture. He earned an MA in Socio-Cultural Anthropology from Cornell University and a BA in Political Science from Villanova University. He has worked extensively on the International Stoves Program at CSU and brings a strong social science component to the project. His academic and professional interests include ethnographic research, the interpretation of narrative, and ritual and symbolic behavior as communication examined in relation to action, practice and socio-historic contexts. His interests include the analysis of culture, political organization, patterns of consumption and exchange, kinship and family structure, social structure, and the socio-cultural role of religion in society. His primary geographic areas of expertise are India, East Asia and North America. He is involved in the cookstoves community both domestically and abroad.

  • Dr. Bryan Willson received his BS, MSc, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering, but also studied development economics and entrepreneurship; the portfolio of responsibilities above demonstrates active participation in all three fields.  The EECL is widely acknowledged as one of the world leaders in the fields of combustion, engine technology, and energy research.  In the 15 years since he founded the EECL (1992), the laboratory has performed over $25 million of funded research and has developed many new clean technology products. Dr. Willson has published over 200 archival publications, reports, and invited keynote addresses. Dr. Willson serves as consultant and/or adviser to numerous US government agencies, international development and environmental agencies, industrial organizations, and private industries. In recent years, he has traveled for professional activities to over 30 countries, including: India, China, Nepal, Benin (West Africa), Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Korea, Thailand, Israel, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, France, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.  Dr. Willson is co-founder of CSU’s Engineers Without Borders student chapter, co-founder and advisor of the "CSU Global Impact" international service-learning program, and is a faculty affiliate of CSU’s Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise program.  Dr. Willson and his team at the Global Innovation Center have worked directly on cookstove projects in Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, India, Nepal and China; the Global Innovation Center has provided support on additional cookstove projects in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.  Dr. Willson has elementary language skills in French, Spanish, and Chinese (Mandarin), and is beginning the study of Portuguese.
